Nintendo Wiins Lawsuit

Someone somewhere is always trying to sue someone over alleged copyright infringement or a patent they think has been duplicated in a product from a company bigger than they are and in this case, it was the Wii supposedly at fault.

Copper Innovations Group, LLC. were alleging that Nintendo had infringed upon a patent (U.S. Patent No. 5,640,152) which appears that Copper didn’t understand how Nintendo had worded the way it described how the Wii and its controllers communicate with each other.

“We are very pleased with the court’s decision,”

said Richard Medway, Nintendo of America’s deputy general counsel.

“Nintendo has a long history of developing innovative products while respecting the intellectual property rights of others. We also vigorously defend patent lawsuits when we firmly believe that we have not infringed another party’s patent, despite the risks that this policy entails. I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the tireless efforts of our legal team.”
