Bluetooth ZX Spectrum First Image Reveal

There has been a bunch of ‘hi-res’ images of the Bluetooth ZX Spectrum released, but they’re pretty much all the same, so there is just one in this article. There are also some interesting links, so it’s not all bad.

It’s a Kickstarter campaign that is still yet to achieve its goal, just over £15,000 needs to be pledged before it reaches the £60,000 needed to fund the project. If you’re under 20 years of age, you probably haven’t heard of Elite, one of the big names in gaming back in the ZX Spectrum days… You probably hadn’t even heard of a Speccy before now.

There are planned further reveals, especially in the final week, but I think the main problem with the campaign is that the rewards aren’t significant enough. For the basic £10 you get the app or app store credit “for same” (same as what? Pledge or app price?) and a thank you in PDF form, not much of an incentive.
The minimum you will need to pledge before being eligible to receive the product is £50. There are a couple of £60 pledges for just limited edition prints, if you want the product too, you have to make a new or amend your pledge. It doesn’t seem the best thought-out Kickstarter campaign I’ve seen for such a prominent product.
The links, OK, well there’s the Kickstarter link which gives you everything you need to know about the campaign, a couple of other links included in the info were Me & My Spectrum, BedroomToBillions and Funstock who specialise in retro gear.
