Twitch Streaming Dated for Xbox One

Twitch streaming has been available on the PlayStation 4 since its launch, it’s just a pity there weren’t many games to stream except the usual Battlefield 4, Call of Duty: Ghosts and FIFA, now it has been announced that the Xbox One will finally be able to stream.

Microsoft will most likely give some excuse about why it’s taken them so long to add the app which is due in an update arriving next month, March 11th, for now, they’re boasting that it will be a better experience than on the PlayStation 4.

“That’s a very certain type of experience,” said Yusuf Mehdi, Microsoft’s vice president of marketing and strategy for Xbox. “For us, we thought that was too limiting for what our fans would want. Our fans really want the full next-gen service, so that’s why we decided to take our time, do it right and have it come out in this fashion.”

In other words, they think they know what the gamer wants when in fact they’re just trying to be different. It’s Twitch streaming, people just want to watch and interact, don’t over-think it and anyway, do you think the streamer really wants random viewers to join their party?

That’s the only difference, the ability to join the broadcasters game (if it’s multiplayer, obviously).

Mehdi goes on to say, “You’ll be able to broadcast to any device and consume anyone’s broadcast from any device. It’s a console experience unique to the Xbox One.” Like, you can already do that with the PS4, in fact, if you can get Twitch on a device, you can watch anything on there.

Anyway, it’s another step forward for Xbox One as it gradually catches up to the PS4, so what do you think? Will it bring more exciting streams to Twitch or just another bunch of sad ‘live streamers’ sitting around doing nothing? Also, do you think it could  benefit indie games if enough gamers decide to stream them?
