What drugs are the Sony ad dept on?

You would think that they would realise when certain advertising is considered ‘taboo’ and not particularly very tasteful and just because a game is aimed towards a mature audience doesn’t mean that the advert should be X-Rated.

If the slaughtered goat doesn’t completely offend, then lets just paint a bra on the ‘sacrificial virgin'(?) eh!

According to the Daily Mail report,

At the event, guests competed to see who could eat the most offal – procured elsewhere and intended to resemble the goat’s intestines – from its stomach.

They also threw knives at targets and pulled live snakes from a pit with their bare hands.

Topless girls added to the louche atmosphere by dipping grapes into guests’ mouths, while a male model portraying Kratos, the game’s warrior hero, handed out garlands.

That’s not so bad, although, I don’t see why the girls had to be topless. But then…

Former Minister Keith Vaz, Labour MP for Leicester East and a long-time campaigner against violent computer games, branded the stunt “distasteful and irresponsible”.

He said: “The slaughter of animals is not something that should be done to advertise a product.

“Sony as a global entertainment company has a social responsibility. At this event it failed in that responsibility.

And I have to agree. I’m no prude when it comes to violent games and such, I know it’s a game and are mentally secure enough to know not to copy what goes on in videogames, what I don’t like is this kind of unnecessary advertising shock tactic. It doesn’t make the game any more appealing to me than seeing screenshots or trailers. When will Sony realise that you don’t need stupidly controversial launch events and advertisements to sell stuff?
