Aliens: Colonial Marines Receives Harsh Reviews
Todays sees the release of Aliens: Colonial reviews around the internet and let’s just say, they aren’t exactly in favour of the latest SEGA/Gearbox outing, some even saying it’s not really Gearbox’s fault since they only provided multiplayer features.
Reviews for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are in and at the moment, it averages 49 out of 100 across the three formats from official reviews, with the user score not far behind averaging 4.4, so what makes Aliens: Colonial Marines so bad?
IGN – “it feels indistinguishable from almost every shooter you’ve played in the past twenty years.”
PC Gamer – “Deeply underwhelming.”
Official Xbox Magazine UK – “It needed, in short, to be a better game.”
Eurogamer – “Weighed down by so many grindingly obvious mechanical issues, it never even gets off the ground.”
PlayStation Official Magazine UK – “If Gearbox’s quality scale has Borderlands 2 at one end and Duke Nukem at the other, Colonial Marines sits somewhere in the middle.”
It just seems such a shame that so much marketing has gone into and is still being provided into what has turned out to be an average game. It had quite some prominence at the Eurogamer Expo last year and at the moment, the PR team are promoting the game with giant alien eggs around London with people dressed as marines and an alien, but all they can do is hope it provides a boost for what appears to be a poor game with slightly better multiplayer.
