Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker Review

Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is a PC port of a mobile game. I might as well open with that, because, well, that’s what it is. Not many are fun to play and usually better played on a tablet, Kitty makes the transition well.

Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is a dating game with a difference, it’s not just for girls and boys, it’s for everyone. Literally. Whatever you are, the game caters for you. Well, I say you, what I mean is that you get to make a profile of yourself at the beginning of the game, but you’re not the one going on dates.

Your profile will be entered into the database which will then get downloaded into other players games and you could probably be partnered with your ideal date without even knowing. If you’re already with someone, well it doesn’t matter, but otherwise, you may be losing out on a soul mate!

The thing I found a bit off was how the general theme was pink. If you’re a dating agency for everyone from gay/lesbian hipsters to bisexual geeks to just straight edgy people, you would think a more neutral theme would be appropriate. That’s just a personal opinion and doesn’t really have any impact on the game, would have been nice though.

What you will need for Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is a good memory. The game is pretty much based on memory, from what you remember of the clients to what the waiter has to offer for desserts. That is a bit of a problem for me since I have quite a bad memory.

Matching pairs, remembering a sequence, it’s all about memory and observation which I am absolutely useless at. That said, considering Kitty Powers’ Matchmaker is about dating, what other style of gameplay could you incorporate?

The problem is, YOU have to remember the details to remind the CLIENT and it’s not like you have anything to remind you (unless you’ve written it down in a notepad).

Matching people up with compatible partners earns you coins and reputation, once you level up, more things unlock and the agency gets bigger. It also means more to remember as you get to choose a trait, as if there isn’t enough already to remember, this is where I’m already in over my head.

Upgrading a second time opens up new clientele and therefore, more choices of whom to match people with. This is where things can get interesting as you don’t necessarily have to match certain types with each other, now you could send a geek out on a date with a glam type if they’re compatible.

There’s a lot of content, but the gameplay is repetitive. What I didn’t like is how you have to send the same person out on dates until they become a couple with someone and you don’t get more choices, just the same ones in the Black Book.

Kitty Powers' Matchmaker

Is it worth buying? Good question. It’s really more of a mobile game and since it’s cheaper with no in-app purchases, I would recommend that, especially if you have a good tablet (big screen Android or iPad).
